Is Your School Truly Ready to Integrate Artificial Intelligence?

Artificial intelligence in education is no longer optional,   it’s a reality.

However, its implementation must go beyond trends or the pressure to “do something with AI.”
It must be grounded in a clear, ethical strategy aligned with your school’s educational vision.

As a consultant in digital strategy and educational technology, I work with numerous teaching and leadership teams. And I always begin with one critical question:

Is your school truly prepared to integrate AI in a meaningful way?

Below, I’ll share 5 key questions to guide your reflection.

1. Is there a shared vision for AI use in your school?

Integrating AI is not about trying tools,  it’s about deciding what role AI will play in your educational model.

A shared vision:

  • Aligns decisions across teams.

  • Prevents isolated efforts.

  • Builds trust and coherence.

2. Do you know what to do (and what not to do) with AI in the classroom?

AI is powerful, but it requires sound judgment.

It’s not just about knowing how to use tools — it’s about understanding when and how it makes sense to integrate them into the teaching and learning process.

AI can support tasks such as personalized learning, content generation, or automated feedback.
But if used without discernment, it can also obscure biases, reduce student autonomy, or foster technological dependence.

That’s why it’s essential to distinguish between what should be automated and what requires human presence.

Integrating AI means rethinking our pedagogical decisions through a critical, ethical, and context-aware lens.

3. Do your teachers have the necessary competencies?

Enthusiasm alone isn’t enough.

Effective integration requires:

  • Digital literacy.

  • Pedagogical insight.

  • Professional autonomy.

Frameworks like  SAMR, TPACK or DigCompEdu are helpful for guiding teacher training.

4. Is there a clear, regulation-aligned ethical framework?

AI raises critical challenges: data privacy, algorithmic bias, automated grading…

Has your school addressed these issues?

A best practice:
Co-create an internal AI use policy, involving experts, leadership, teachers, and students — aligned with the new EU AI Act.

5. Has your school’s digital strategy evolved to include AI?

AI doesn’t replace your digital strategy. It reshapes it.

You’ll need to revisit:

  • Your Digital School Plan (DSP).

  • Frameworks like DigCompOrg and Edu.

  • Objectives, resources, protocols, and pedagogy.

What’s next?

If any of these questions sparked doubt,  that’s a good sign.

It means it’s time to pause, reflect, and realign.

AI integration isn’t about doing more.
It’s about doing better.
